The Sydney Metro project is an enormous, complex public transport project that will create a new high-speed, driverless metro network in Sydney. The project will include four new metro lines, 46 stations, and 113 kilometers of new metro rail. Expected to be completed by 2030, the project will revolutionize how Sydney travels.
In order to successfully complete high voltage testing in a number of HV stations on the Sydney Metro Network, CoMade were asked to provide a bespoke High Voltage Commissioning team and assist with development of the test and commission program, as well as supply HV test equipment. The full CoMade team spanned a mechanical and electrical manager, leads and engineers, as well as technical support and field commissioning teams.
With partnership and professionalism at the forefront, CoMade worked closely with CPB UGL, as well as other contractors, and the community to achieve the common goal for the client, overcoming issues relating to a compressed program timeline and difficult working environment. Weekly reporting and communication gave the client transparency around project constraints, time and cost forecast, and resulted in 100% productivity utilisation of delivery resources and equipment. In addition, a major potential hazard was avoided by the implementation (and adherence to) CoMade’s proven permit to work process. As a result, this project was completed not just on time, but with enhanced efficiency and safety.

This project created an improved and more efficient public transport system by reducing congestion across the Brisbane River. Expanding a single river crossing and just four inner-city stations that caused bottlenecks into 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and Brisbane CBD and delivering a second river crossing so trains can run more regularly and efficiently.
CoMade were engaged to deliver commissioning for this critical project, applying the critical processes we don’t deviate from to ensure project success.
